I went on a walk a few nights ago. I was walking around Hermosa Beach, smoking weed out of a pipe that looks like a cigarette. As Palm intersected Harper, I saw a skunk out of the corner of my eye. I followed it for half a block, turning to a statue everytime it caught notice of my lurking presence.
And then I lost it. I kept walking for half a block, when my steady gaze met the distinctive white stripe, bushy tale, inquisitively exploring. Jane Goodall is to chimpanzees as I will be to suburban skunketry. The skunks say, no taxation without representation (yes, they get taxed, and brutally too), and so I'm going to represent them in congress.
I swear that's not how that anecdote was when I started writing it. It's all true except for taxes. I really had no idea that the Beach Cities have their own skunk population.
Bought a new pipe today in Venice with Liv. Upon exploring its intricacies with Grayson, we realized that his name is "Debussy," because as we were smoking in my car, "Prélude al'apres-midi d'un faune" came on, and I squealed and said how Debussy is my favorite composer. And now he is my piece. Classical music nerdery merging with the world of potheads.
Last week went on adventure with Grayson, Max, and Chris to the second steepest street in the world, Eldred Street in Silver Lake (yes, it is steeper than those streets in San Francisco.) It was absurdly steep. Needless to say, I was winded at the top, but exhilerated, because steepness is profound.
This past week...hung out with the lovely Fiona (saw Children of Men), enjoyed work, went to Olivia's dad's house for the first time, cheated on diet repeatedly, wished I was somewhere else with someone else. Felt as if I've been single for far too long. The things in this list may or may no be related.
